Cowes Week 2017

For the second year in a row, Malcolm Hollis hosted guests at Lendy Cowes Week from 31 July to 4 August 2017. Throughout the week, we entertained over 100 clients, including representatives from Adderstone, AEW, Deutsche Hypo, DTZ Investors, Foot Locker, Hansteen Holdings, Helix, Marchmont Investments, Muse Developments, Quidnet Capital, RO Real Estate and Rockspring.
We took part in the racing every day on Pata Negra, a 46 foot performance race yacht, in the IRC Class 1 category. The yacht was crewed by partners John Woodman and Stephen Lemmon, with a different team of amateur sailors from across the property industry each day. Pata Negra was one of the few boats in its class not manned by a consistent pro or semi-pro crew. Our highest finish came on the final day of racing on the Friday, when we were the second yacht to cross the finish line, with a final placing of seventh after handicaps.
Those guests not involved with the racing spent time watching the action from our additional sailing yachts and RIB, as well as enjoying picnics on the local beaches with the Malcolm Hollis team, including partners Ashley Winter, Charlie Wildash, Chris McCartney, Chris Sullivan, David Cox, James Audsley, Mark Hampson, Martyn Furse, Mike Turner, Peter Martin, Roland Verniers and Stuart Sword. Although the weather was not the best for beach picnics in the middle of the week, we still managed to keep our spirits up with indoor hospitality, despite the racing being cancelled on Thursday.
On Tuesday 01 August, we also celebrated two milestones for Malcolm Hollis at our nightly barbecue – the 10th birthday of our Newcastle office and 1st birthday of our office in Amsterdam – with office partners David Cox and Roland Verniers in attendance.
