What’s different about Malcolm Hollis?

Team Leader

I joined Malcolm Hollis as a Team Secretary in 2010 in the London Battersea office. My role is to provide administrative support to an allocation of surveyors across our offices in the UK, Ireland and mainland Europe.  The type of work I get involved with includes dictation, formatting reports, issuing documents to clients and arranging travel, to name just a few examples.

I joined a team of nine secretaries and initially supported six surveyors. Since then, Malcolm Hollis has grown, and our secretarial team has also grown in order to be able to support our fee-earners – there are now over 20 secretaries in the department.  We work very much as a team and, when busy, share our workload amongst each other.  To support our secretaries we also have a number of Secretarial Administrators, to ensure there is always help available.

The growth of the firm has given me the opportunity to take on more responsibility – in 2012 I was promoted to the position of Senior Secretary and in 2017 I became a Team Leader. I am a training buddy, helping new secretaries ease into the role by sharing my knowledge and I’m also involved in the induction process for new fee earners when they join. It is a great way to meet all of the new faces.

As a company, Malcolm Hollis is very sociable and really do live the work hard – play hard culture. We have payday drinks in the office every month along with quarterly quiz nights. The secretarial team also socialises regularly and we’ve been to the Roof Top Cinema and had team dinners with clubbing and cocktails afterwards.

As the company continues to grow, the operations team keeps growing too, with new opportunities arising all the time – there are exciting times ahead!
