Our people

David Cox

Partner | Newcastle

I manage our Newcastle office and am responsible for our leasehold advice, service charges and schedules of condition services.

What I do

I began my career with Malcolm Hollis as a graduate in 2004 at our Manchester office. In 2007, I relocated to Newcastle and opened our office here. We have been here for ten years now and have one of the largest building surveying teams in the region.

I have experience in all aspects of commercial building surveying however I specialise in dilapidations and pre-acquisition surveys. I have completed a masters in Commercial Property Law and regularly present to clients, lawyers and students on different aspects of surveying and property law.

I act for various local and national clients and manage their dilapidations procedures. I have also acted as expert witness in relation to dilapidations claims and disputes in connection with break clauses.

I also continue to work with some great clients who we have known since opening the Newcastle office back in 2007.

I am an APC counsellor and am responsible for training graduates in the office. We have close ties with the local university and have helped provide work experience opportunities for building surveying students.

Who I am

It is not all hard work and in my spare time I enjoy a game of fetch with Ted my spaniel at the beach. I also enjoy travelling with my wife Caroline and have a passion for sports cars – the faster the better! I have come to terms with the fact that I can’t hit a golf ball in a straight line!
