Lead Health & Safety and CDM Consultant | London
I am Lead Health & Safety and CDM Consultant based in the London City office, with responsibility for CDM services in England, as well as CDM and health & safety training, both within Malcolm Hollis and externally.
What I do
I am a design and construction professional with over 35 years of wide-ranging experience. I joined Malcolm Hollis in March 2016, with a general remit in design, specification, contract administration, neighbourly matters and health and safety. I carry special responsibility for CDM and health and safety, including business & service development, advice, training, compliance and writing.
I became a chartered building surveyor in 1994, having spent my first 14 years practising as an architect. I have focussed on health and safety and CDM for over 20 years and am a chartered safety and health practitioner.
I have been a member of the RICS Health & Safety Advisory Group since 1995 & chaired it for a number of years. I am a member of the CIC Health and Safety Panel and was on the APS Publications Panel. I have sat on a number of publication steering groups, have written on technical and health & safety matters and co-authored the RICS Guidance Note ‘Surveying Safely’.
I am also an RICS accredited APC assessor and assist with in-house training and the tutoring of APC candidates.
Who I am
When I’m not at work I spend my time supporting the family, mostly by doing some increasingly serious cooking. I enjoy cultural pursuits, including music (as both listener and player), theatre and literature. My ventures into serious sport are long gone – in my teens I was a British junior crossbow champion – but I still enjoy walks in the countryside and the occasional work out in the gym.
